Embu county commissioner Eddyson Nyale has said all students registered for this year’s KSCE must sit for their exams.

Nyale said students who registered for their exams but left school due to various reasons will be traced.

The commissioner spoke on Monday morning during the opening of the exam container and roll-out.

Nyale said any case of a registered missing student will be well dealt with by the county multi-agency team.

“We have put measures in place for students who are in hospital or others in similar situations," he said.

The commissioner said so far they have not received any cases but they are prepared.

"We will trace all those who are registered as we have done during the Kenya Certificate of Primary School Examinations,” he said.

The commissioner said his concern was linked to about 46 students who went missing in Mbeere North during the just-concluded KCPE exams.

“During the KCPE we had such cases of students missing during exams. We were forced to travel as far as Kirinyaga county to follow up on the matter. We will trace them to the last,” he said.

He also said the security personnel is set to secure the rest of the examinations process.

On his part, county police commander Daniel Lukunga warned those who are employing students saying the government will arrest them.

The region is dominated by casual jobs on Muguka farms and sand harvesting.

However, Lukunga said his sector has stand-by officers ready to guard those students who will be in emergency situations and are unable to get to their respective centres.

About 13,332 candidates will sit for the 2021 KCSE in 200 examination centres across Embu.
