Kenya Kwanza leaders have told off Azimio coalition over the opening of IEBC servers.
The leaders told the Raila Odinga-led coalition if they want the servers opened, they should do so themselves as President William Ruto is not the custodian.
They said the recent calls by the opposition leaders to have the IEBC servers are only a ploy to get into the government through the backdoor.
They were led by Roads and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen and Trade CS Moses Kuria.
The Azimio team has dared the President to open the servers to establish the truth about who won last year’s Presidential elections claiming that their victory was stolen.
Murkomen queried why Raila didn’t demand to have the servers opened after their handshake with former President Uhuru Kenyatta if keys to the servers are held by a sitting Head of State.
“If at all the servers can only be opened by the President, why didn’t he [Raila] have them opened by Uhuru before he passed on the keys to the current President?
"Ruto is not the custodian of the IEBC servers and therefore the opposition leaders should access the servers at their will. We will have them escorted to do so,” he said.
He spoke in Mang’u, Gatundu North during the launch of the constituency’s Sh48 million bursary funds on Friday.
The CS said that Raila is determined to frustrate the Kenya Kwanza government.
He added that Raila has already started changing goalposts by making unfeasible demands in the bipartisan talks that were extended to the opposition.
CS Kuria said the Azimio leader's pursuit to get into the government will be futile as they will not allow a coalition government.
“The government is not a sweet potato to be split and shared. We will not allow them to get half of the government positions because that is what they are seeking.
"We [Cabinet Secretaries] are not allowed to engage in politics but if it reaches a point where we are needed, I will put aside my ‘salvation’ and face take them head-on,” Kuria said.
Kuria said that the Kenya Kwanza government is in office for only eight months and therefore should be given time to deliver to Kenyans and foster growth and development across the country.
MP Kaguchia accused the Raila-led team of working tirelessly to derail the government from its development agenda so as to discredit it as a failed regime.
“This is why we are urging the President and his Deputy to remain undeterred and focus on the plan to improve the livelihoods of Kenyans by bringing much needed developments,” Kaguchia said.
Other leaders present were MPs Elija Njoroge (Gatundu North), George Koimburi (Juja), Geoffrey Mulanya (Nabale), John Kaguchia (Mukurweini) and former MPs Esther Gathogo (Ruiru) and Kigo Njenga (Gatundu North).
