The Azimio coalition and the Kenya Kwanza bi-partisan talks teams held their very first meeting on Thursday.

The committee said the bipartisan team was constituted by the respective leadership of Kenya Kwanza and Azimio One Kenya Coalition.

From the first meeting, Tharaka MP George Murugara was named as the co-chair from the Kenya Kwanza side and will work alongside Amollo in steering the committee toward consensus.

The committee expressed commitment and confidence in finding a lasting solution to the concerns raised to it.

"This 1st meeting was meant to set the climate for the talks about the actual talks," a joint statement by Amollo and Murugara read in part.

He said the team has preliminarily discussed a framework for engagement and agreed that each party will develop its framework for harmonisation in subsequent meetings.

The two chairs of the committee noted the concerns raised about its composition, formalisation and the nature of talks whether parliamentary or extra-parliamentary and resolved to engage the appointing authorities on the same.

He said the committee resolved that its members would do everything to promote and not to undermine or jeopardize the talks.

"Equally we urge all the political players to refrain from statements that may be counterproductive," the two co-chairs stated.

Omollo said the committees agreed to convene its next meeting on Tuesday, April 25.

The venue and time will  be communicated in due course
