Pupils of a primary school in Kiambu are being forced to use toilets without doors following frequent theft that has alarmed the school administration.

Criminals have been breaking into the school to steal doors of the facilities once they are replaced.

Gitithia primary school in Lari constituency head teacher Peter Ndung’uri says the new doors have stolen four times now.

Ndung’uri told a parents meeting that was attended by area MP Jonah Mburu on Tuesday that they are scared that the thugs might turn to the staff toilets to steal the doors.

“We know whoever is stealing is a neighbour. We feel he is doing injustice to the school and the pupils. They wait until we buy new doors and then steal them,” he said.

“We are appealing to you parents to help us with information of who might be stealing them so we can  call in the police and have them  arrested,” Nding’uri added.

The MP condemned the theft urging parents to help the school administration to apprehend those responsible.

Mburu however thanked the school administration for working closely with the community and the board of management to improve candidates performance in the KCPE exam even as the 8-4-4 system is being replaced by the competency based curriculum.

“As the 8-4-4 system is being replaced by the CBC, let us all join hands to ensure the candidates who will be sitting theKCPE exams, earn better marks,” Mburu said.

Mburu who was accompanied by his staff during the distribution of KCPE exam revision books to Standard 8 pupils, toured Kibagare primary school, Gitithia primary school and the meetings ended at Kanyekini primary school.

The MP urged parents and teachers not to condemn learners but motivate them so that they can work hard.

The legislator also urged the parents not to complain about their everyday role in the CBC saying the curriculum involves a lot of parents, teachers and the community’s participation.
