Narok governor Samuel Tunai has advised the church to help Kenyans elect good leaders in the August general elections.

Tunai said the church has a role to play in ensuring the leaders have the values and qualities needed in those seeking elective posts.

"The church leadership should help the people and that is the only way the electorate would be assured of leadership that delivers and guides national processes prudently," said Tunai.

He made the remarks after attending church service at Ebenezer AGC in Narok South on Sunday.

While lauding the church leaders for help in spreading the gospel across the region, Tunai said he will continue working closely with them saying this nation is built on religious values.

"My county leadership have been a success because of the foundation of Christian values that the church has demonstrated throughout my tenure and I appreciate all the efforts they have played and that led to a united county," said Tunai who seeking for Narok senate seat on UDA.

The county boss asked the residents of the cosmopolitan county to be keen on the leaders to be elected in the forthcoming elections.

He insisted that the county requires a team of leaders whose main agenda was to unite all the tribes residing in the county.

"During my tenure as the founding governor all the tribes have been experiencing peaceful coexistence and that should continue," he said.

The governor also use the opportunity to drum up support for Deputy President William Ruto.

"The DP is up to the task and is capable of taking this country to the next level if given the opportunity in the August polls," said Tunai, who is one of the leaders spearheading campaigns for DP Ruto in Rift-Valley.

He urged the Narok residents to stop gambling with the county leadership by electing good leaders.

"We need leaders who have been tried and tested and are equally approachable not those who want to bring division among people," said the county boss.

He condemned the Azimio la Umoja's team in Narok for perpetuating divisive and tribal politics.

“As the leaders, we will resist such leadership that aims at dividing people along tribal lines but instead ensure that those people who are voted in are able to exercise their leadership across all the communities residing in Narok county,” he said.
