Nondies RFC chairman Auka Gecheo believes the club can challenge for Kenya and Enterprise cups in the next three years.

Kenya's oldest and most successful club celebrates its centennial anniversary on Saturday and the former Kenya Rugby Union general manager believes the club is headed in the right direction.

“ I believe we will be contenders in the next couple of years. We are laying the foundation now to ensure that we can challenge the likes of KCB, Kabras and Menengai Oilers," said Gecheo.

The former Mean Machine player said the most important part in thier quest for silverware is securing sponsorships.

Nondies clinched the KRU Championship title last season after beating Kisumu RFC 24-6 in the final.

This earned them promotion to the top tier, where Gecheo expects the team to punch above their weight.

"The boys put up a good showing last season and with the help of our technical bench, I believe will be competitive. We will strengthen the squad once the transfer window opens later in the year,” noted Gecheo.

Nondies, who dominated the rugby landscape in the 70s , 80 and 90s, were formed in 1923 and have a record 17 Kenya Cup titles with their last triumph coming in 1998.

For the celebrations, the club will have ten-a-side tournaments with family activities and music at their  Ngong racecourse base.
