Nationwide playoffs enter the quarter-final stage this weekend

Administration Police Warriors face Kitale RFC at the JKUAT ground in Juja as the nationwide league enters the quarterfinal stage this weekend.

It will be the first of a doubleheader with hosts JKUAT Cougars entertaining Machakos University.

Moi University Arsonists have a date with Makueni in Eldoret while Mombasa Sports Club host Sigalagala.

AP warriors reached the last eight with a convincing 30-8 win over Northern Suburbs in the round of 16 while Cougars were made to fight tooth and nail by Maseno University Saints before prevailing 23-21. 

Moi University were awarded a 28-0 walkover win over Kilifi as Mombasa thrashed Molo 41-12. 

Sigalagala edged MKU Thika 13-0 while Makueni edged Technical University of Mombasa 31-30 in an entertaining match.

Teams are seeking to secure the two slots for the 2023 -2024  championship season. The semifinals are slated for April 8 and the final on April 15.

Elsewhere, former champions Namibia have announced their squad for the Rugby Africa U20 Barthes Trophy set for 22-30 in Nairobi. 

The former champions have two returning players from last season’s side that lost to Zimbabwe in the final.  Ray –Eez Ferris and Owen Hawanga will make the traveling party to Nairobi.

Other nations expected for the week-long championship include Uganda, Zambia, Tunisia, and Ivory Coast.
