Equity Bank Dumas coach Carey Oketch has admitted that his team is still a work in progress despite the win over Ulinzi Warriors.

For a team that ended their title fight in the playoff semis last year, he insisted, they will have to get better if they are to bag their first national title.

The bankers made a statement by beating Ulinzi Warriors 69-59 in a Kenya National Basketball League (KNBL) tie at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium on Sunday.

"We have to get better. It wasn't the best of games. The defence and rebounding were great as well," he said.

Oketch heaped praise on shooting guard Faisal Aden who connected for a game-high of 28 points that included five three-pointers.

"We will support him defensively and help him make guys around him better especially going into the next game." Observed Oketch.

He also hailed the contributions of Cliff Alela, James Mwangi and Lenson Kisia towards the teams' fifth win of the season.

"Ocampo, Jemo and Lenson were exceptional on the boards. Tito and Aden were the most creative in that game."

He went on: "Victor Ochieng's shooting and defence on dangerous Eric Mutoro was out of this world."

The tactician said teamwork will be paramount for the team's success. "They just need to prepare mentally and stay together," he noted.
