Golfers from six nations to battle for Muthaiga Open title

Six nations will take part in the fourth round of the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) Series scheduled to tee off at the par 71 Muthaiga Golf Club this morning.

Norway international Haland Sigmund will lead a host of 23 foreign golfers from the six nations in the 54-hole three-day tournament, which ends on Sunday.

Sigmund will be up against fellow Europeans including Evans David and James Wass from Great Britain.

The trio will be joined by the pair of Sharma Kushagra and Thacker Mitansh from India.

All participants will be yearning for the coveted title as amateurs seek points ahead of the 2025 Magical Kenya Open and the overall Kenya One title come December.

According to the draw released by the Kenya Golf Union (KGU), there are 141 top Kenyans who will be joined by players from India, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Norway, Great Britain, and hosts Kenya.

Nine ladies will equally be seeking to make a mark in the event and will be hoping to challenge their male counterparts on the course for the Sh350,000 prize money.

The event also serves as a qualifying series for both the Kenya amateur and the world amateur ranking.

Haland will be at the tee box at 11:50 am alongside Mombasa’s Walji Miqdaad and Ugandan Andrew Ssekibejja.

Evans on the other hand will be playing in a flight with Nyahururu’s Ian Maigua and Sigona’s Soni Tsevi at 7:00 am. Wass will be at the tee box at exactly 7:40 am in the company of Indian Sharma Kushagra and Nyali’s William Odeck.

Another Indian Mitansh will tee off at 7:50 am with Ugandan Joseph Cwinyaai and Geoffrey Opiyo of Royal, Nairobi.

Other foreigners include Ugandans Joseph Akena, Amon Bwambale, Abdul Kakeeto, Emmanuel Moko, Cosmas Ociti, Elton Thembo, Joseph Kasozi, Michael Tumusiime, and Titus Okwong.

Tanzania have four players on the course led by Ali Isaanzu, George Sembi, Ibrahim Mtemi and Isiaka Dunia. Rwanda will be represented by Didas Ndindabahisi and Felix Dusabe.
