VetLab Sports Club host the first leg of the 2023 KCB East Africa Golf Tour this Friday.

The event, which will be part of the first Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) Open meeting of the year, will attract over 60 elite amateur ladies at the par-72 Vetlab course, over the next three days.

In addition to the elite amateurs' action, KCB will host two golf clinics for ladies and juniors on Friday afternoon and Sunday morning, respectively.

Commenting on the event, KCB Group director of marketing and communications, Rosalind Gichuru said: “We are glad to have partnered with the KLGU to host this first event on our calendar. This sponsorship speaks to the tour’s goal of expanding the reach of the sport of golf across the region.”

“This is why we will also be hosting a women’s clinic on Friday and a Junior clinic on Sunday, to expand the sport's horizon. In addition to this weekend, we will be hosting another two ladies-only events during the tour," she added.

Action in the KLGU Open will tee off at 7:10 am with Susan Ngure and Keziah Korir off the first tee. Also in the field are former winners, Catherine Oosterwijk, Eleanor Wambui, and Agnes Nyakio.

From Vetlab, the KCB East Africa Golf Tour will move to Eldoret Sports Club for the second leg on April 22 before landing in Limuru on the 29th.

Meanwhile, the NCBA Golf Series, which was launched in March, is set to continue this weekend with the second leg taking place at the Limuru Country Club on Saturday.

Over 200 golfers are expected to compete in the tournament and will all be vying for a chance to play in the Grand Finale in December at Sigona Golf Club.

Following the first leg at Kenya Railway Golf Club last month, the top qualifiers include Kevin Mbatia, who was the overall winner, Fidhelis Kimanzi, who starred among the men, and Dr. Mary Wainaina, who won the women's category.

This year's series will feature 16 senior qualifier events held across the country and a juniors’ tournament at Nyali Golf Club.
