Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa has refuted claims that the local women's football terrain is in tatters.

"We are one of the top nations in women's football now. Women's football is growing so fast and so we want to make sure that the clubs are run professionally," Mwendwa said.
"It will take quite some time to bring women's football to the same level as men's football but we already see a lot of potential there," he added.
His remarks come a couple of days after seasoned Kenya Women's Premier League player Neddy Atieno raised a red flag, saying the sport faced an uncertain future.
"Our cherished Women's football leagues are encountering financial hurdles, and I'm reaching out to you for assistance in preserving girls' dreams. As devoted supporters, you understand the dedication and effort our girls invest in every match," Atieno stated.
Atieno brought the development to light even as she appealed to the public to contribute towards a kitty established to save women's football from sinking further.
"To ensure our girls continue competing at their peak, I'm launching a special campaign. I urge each of you to contribute just 10 bob weekly. Every little bit counts," Atieno remarked.
"Your contributions will directly support our women's clubs with essentials including food, transport, and accommodation. Together, we can ensure our girls have everything they need to excel in the game. Let's demonstrate the power of community support and stand behind our remarkable women's league teams," she added.
