AFC Leopards head coach Tomas Trucha has promised to turn around the side’s fortunes, noting that his charges have already found their footing in the Kenyan Premier League.

Trucha was brought in last October to take over from Tom Juma who was fired following a torrid start to the season where his charges endured a six-match winless streak that left them dangling precariously on the brink of relegation.

The Croat has managed to secure four consecutive victories, a feat that catapulted the 13-time Kenyan champions into the top ten after months in the dreaded red zone.

“This is my job and this is why I am here. I have to work with the players. I have to lift the club. I see that they are improving. I have seen a lot of good things since I came on board," Trucha remarked.

"I found the players low on confidence after the club began the season on a low note. I'm happy things are looking up for us all and our latest string of positive results attest to our resolve to turn around our fortunes."

"When I arrived I realised that the biggest headache the club faced was lack of creativity and composure in front of goal. There is no way we could collect maximum points without finding the back of the net," Trucha stated.

"Scoring is the issue. We are not producing enough opportunities in open play, and even when we do, we are failing to score. We need to be hungry enough in front of goal. We need to be composed and dangerous in the final third."

Trucha expressed hope that Leopards will extend their impressive run when they tackle city rivals Kariobangi Sharks at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Sharks head coach William Muluya reckons they have the character to pull off a surprise.

"Everyone in our camp appreciates the importance of this match, especially during this crucial face of the competition. We are hoping for a positive outcome on Sunday," Muluya stated.

"Generally, I'm satisfied with what we have achieved this season considering we have a very young squad. We intend to secure a decent finish at the end of the season," Muluya started
