“We are more than happy that Vincent has chosen to extend his stay at City Stars. He is one of our best performers and very key to our setup. He made the right decision,” said head coach Nicholas Muyoti.

Owino said: “City Stars is my home and the best place for my career growth. That made deciding to extend the contract easy for me. I can now focus on improving my performance and that of the team.”

Meanwhile, skipper Calvin Masawa has rued the red card conceded against AFC Leopards which will see him miss two games, against Shabana and Bandari.

It was his first since landing at City Stars in 2011. Masawa was sent off after a last-man challenge on an AFC Leopards' breakaway forward.

Leopards' two second-half goals ended Simba wa Nairobi’s seven-game winning streak.

“I had a clean bill since joining the Premier League. This has flawed my record. It’s happened and there’s nothing much I can do about it. Though I didn’t feel the incident deserved that kind of punishment," said Masawa.
