Gor Mahia head coach Jonathan McKinistry reckons their march to a historic 21st title is unstoppable.

The Northern Irish gaffer spoke a couple of days after the record Kenyan champions opened a ten-gap lead at the apex of the Kenyan Premier League log with a hard-fought 1-0 win over rivals Tusker on Sunday.

K’Ogalo have ruthlessly wreaked havoc on topflight behemoths and minnows at whim to cement an impressive 19-match unbeaten streak.

They remain the only topflight side yet to lose a match this season, having registered 12 wins and seven draws in all their outings.

They sit pretty at the summit of the topflight standings with 43 points, 10 more than their closest challengers Nairobi City Stars who suffered a dent in their title aspirations following a 2-0 loss to AFC Leopards at Bukhungu Stadium over the weekend.

“We have already built a comfortable buffer zone to keep our opponents at a safe distance. We can even afford to fumble in a few of our matches and still manage to rally back for a successful title defence,” McKinistry remarked.

“The boys have done a really good job. The win extends our position at the top. We don’t want to slip, but even if it happens, we have built a huge cushion, giving us room and time to recover,” McKinistry stated.

McKinstry laughed off widespread claims that fierce rivals Tusker have the power to scuttle their lofty plans this season.

Football pundits have consistently predicted that Tusker will spoil K’Ogalo’s celebration following the Brewers’ four straight decisive victories against KPL opponents in their most recent games.

McKinstry claimed the Ruaraka-based beermakers are virtually out of contention after suffering their sixth defeat of the season.

“We handed Tusker their sixth loss of the season. I don’t recall any KPL side that managed to clinch the league title after losing six matches. That has never happened at least in the last 20 years,” McKinistry stated.

The tactician believes they have boosted their ranks with sufficient talent to charge effectively for the title after acquiring two razor-sharp forwards from the ongoing mid-season transfer window.

One of their new catch is offensive midfielder Enock Wanyama, who has penned a two-year contract after joining the club from Taipei-based Leopard Cat FC in the Taiwan Football Premier League.

The former Ligi Ndogo and Kariobangi Sharks winger became Gor Mahia’s second signing after they outmaneuvered both Bandari FC and Police FC to secure the signature of former Bidco United talisman Shariff Musa.

“I do not doubt in my mind that we have sealed the loopholes that exposed us to some of our opponents in our previous encounters. We went into the market and brought in what we were lacking,” McKinistry remarked.
