Sofapaka head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno has lauded his charges after they fended off a vicious challenge to beat Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Otieno believes they have already found their footing on the top-flight stage after collecting their second win in three matches.

Darius Msagha’s 84th-minute strike is all it took to separate the two sides at full-time.

“We had a good match today and I’m satisfied with how we managed to contain one of the best sides in the league,” Otieno remarked.

“We have good players who can steer us away from the relegation zone although it would be far-fetched to dream of being in title contention,” he added.

Homeboyz head coach Patrick Odhiambo conceded defeat, saying they had lost to a better side.

“It was a tough match and we played well only that we failed to utilise the few chances we created. We live to fight another day,” Odhiambo stated.

The outcome leaves Homeboyz in sixth place with 28 points while Sofapaka are 13th with 20.
