Tusker head coach Robert Matano has moved to dispel fears that he might face the axe following their 1-0 loss to champions Gor Mahia at Moi Stadium, Kasarani on Sunday.

Speculations were rife in the air that the seasoned gaffer had been given an ultimatum by his employers to win Sunday's encounter failure to which he would be shown the door.

But the tactician, fondly known as 'the Lion' emerged from the dugout exuding confidence even after Benson Omalla's first-half effort handed the Ruaraka-based Brewers their third defeat of the season.

Dressed in a grey suit, a white shirt, and a red tie, Matano beamed off a reassuring smile, while noting that he was yet to see his sunset days at the club.

"I'm going nowhere. I'm at Tusker to stay. I'll be there in the next match and you'll still be seeing me around in the next season," Matano stated.

Matano lavished praise on his charges, stating that they adhered to the script despite the heartwrenching loss.

"We played well even though we lost. It's evident from how we played today that the team has begun to gel and we shall be posting good results in our coming matches," Matano remarked

As Matano held his chin up in the wake of a disaster, his opposite number at K'Ogalo,  Jonathan McKinstry, said his team's performance fell below his expectations.

"I'm happy we've won but I believe we deserved a better scoreline. Tusker gave us a good challenge and I'm happy we came out of the match with maximum points," McKinstry said.

"It's encouraging that we have managed an unbeaten run up to this point and this shows we are now consistent in our performance unlike last season when we experienced highs and lows," he added.

The win propelled his charges to second on the log with 15 points, one adrift of leaders Posta Rangers.

Elsewhere, Kariobangi Sharks rallied from behind to wring out a point against Muhoroni Youth in a 1-1 draw thriller at Moi Stadium, Kasarani on Sunday.

Collins Neto fired the visitors ahead after connecting a header off Cliff Vincent's sumptuous cross. However, George Onyango's 84th-minute effort ruined the party for Muhoroni.

In another enticing encounter at Mbaraki Sports Club, coastal side Bandari piled more misery on trouble-ridden AFC Leopards after edging them 1-0.

Meanwhile, Murang'a Seal played out a two-all draw against Bidco United at Kasarani Annex.
