Nairobi City Stars defender Kennedy ‘Vidic’ Onyango has joined Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia.

Onyango joins Gor Mahia on a free transfer as revealed by Nairobi City Stars chief executive officer Patrick Korir.

“He is the kind of player you never want to let go. Good-hearted, straightforward, and the type that just came to the ground, performed his role with a 150 percent commitment and went home,” Korir told the Star.

“He never took losses kindly, he'd go straight to a corner, look down, and never wanted anyone to talk to him for even up to an hour. The offer from Gor came at a time he was extending his contract with Simba wa Nairobi for the upcoming season.”

Korir noted that it was in Onyango’s best interest to take up the Gor Mahia offer.

“He informed us about the approach and we sat and reasoned. We gave him our full blessings to make the move and we wish him the very best as he turns from blue to green,” he concluded.

At the same time, newly-promoted Premier League side Murang’a Seal have parted ways with six players.

Coach Vincent Nyaberi said among those released are Eric Sinje, Alvin Odoyo, John Mwangi, Cedric Atsango and Gideon Were.

“We are in the process of signing six players. They will join us on Monday when we start our pre-season. I didn’t want to overhaul the squad because I have a good team,” said Nyaberi.
