Gaspo women chairman Edward Githua expects the players to develop a bulletproof mentality next season after playing a historic high altitude football match at Mt. Kenya on June 30.

Gaspo became the first team in the country to play at such an altitude.

The Gatundu-based side came close to winning the Kenya Women's Premier League title last season but a pair of draws in their last three matches of the season proved costly.

Gaspo only finished second but the team is already planning for the coming season.

"Mental strength is what we are trying to work on. It really affected the team towards the end of last season," Githua said.

"It was an adventurous assignment for the players.  The hardships experienced while climbing the mountain will only make the players better,"Githua added.

As part of the team's pre-season program, Gaspo will head to Uganda for a friendly match against Kawempe Muslim on July 22.

"We want to have good preparations for the new season. Kawempe will be a real test for us. We then head to Tanzania to play Simba Queens early August," Githua pointed out.

The club honcho revealed that midfield is one of the areas the team will have to address in order to make their title ambitions a reality.

"We will address all areas but midfield is a priority," he said.
