National Super League log leaders Shabana opened a nine-point lead at the top of the table after promotion rivals Murang’a Seal dropped two points in Bomet.

Shabana had on Friday beaten hosts Mwatate 1-0 in Wundanyi. New signing Cornelius Juma scored the lone goal for Shabana.

Shabana are seeking to end their 16-year absence from the Kenya Premier League.

Their chances have been boosted more after Murang’a Seal battled to a barren draw against relegation-threatened Silibwet Leons on Saturday.

With Shabana and Murang’a Seals favourites to seal the two automatic qualification slots, attention now turns to the playoff position.

Migori Youth beat Vihiga United 2-1 to move to third place while Gusii dropped to fourth after losing 0-1 against Mara Sugar. Victor Ngume scored for Mara in the game that was played at Awendo Green Stadium in Migori.

Kajiado FC banished relegation fears after a 2-0 win over Kisumu All Stars at Ildamat playground in Kajiado. Abdulrahman Bwanashikuri and Liban Ali were on target for the hosts.

Kajiado finished the game with 10 men after Idd Marion was sent off in stoppage time.

SS Assad remain rooted in the relegation zone after a 3-3 draw against visiting Mully Children Family at Shamu grounds in Kwale in a six-goal thriller while Naivas drubbed Kibera Black Stars 4-0 in another encounter.
