NFL Africa in Kenya for talent identification

The expansion has seen the NFL host a talent identification camp.

The National Football League 's 'NFL Africa' program has expanded to Kenya as the league continues to invest in growing the game at all levels across the continent.

The expansion has seen the NFL  host a talent identification camp and NFL flag football showcase in Nairobi. The five-day assignment started on April 10 and ends on April 15.

This underlines the long-term multi-market commitment to developing more ways to serve a growing fanbase in Africa.

"Growing the NFL globally is a major strategic priority for the league and developing our footprint and fandom in Africa is an important part of this vision,"  Brett Gosper, head of NFL Europe and Africa said.

"We are excited to expand NFL Africa to Kenya. We look forward to creating opportunities for the next generation of African players and fans to engage with our sport. We would like to build a pathway for more international athletes to play in the NFL because there's a place in our sport for 'everyone'," he added.

More than 125 athletes of African descent from 15 countries play in the NFL league.

29 prospects aged 16-21 from African nations including Cameroon, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria and Senegal will then take part in a three-day NFL Combine-style camp to showcase their skills.
