Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Transition Committee has extended the Kenyan Premier League transfer window by a week.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by head of secretariat, Lindah Oguttu, TC said the exercise will now close on September 7 and not on August 31 as earlier communicated.

The transfer market opened immediately after the conclusion of the 2021/2022 KPL season which was won by Tusker.

“Reference is made to our communication dated 28th July 2022 regarding the Kenya Premier League 2022/2023 season and in particular the registration of players for the upcoming season,” read the letter in part.

“The FKF Transition Committee wishes to notify all FKF PL clubs that the registration period for the 2022/23 season has been extended by a week. The window initially slated to close on 31st August 2022 shall now close on 7th September 2022.

Oguttu asked the clubs to complete their business within the specified timeframe, noting that they will not be handed another grace period.

“Clubs are advised to ensure that they complete all their registration before the mentioned deadline as there shall be no further extensions,” Oguttu said.

Club representatives have been advised to submit their transfer documents either in person at Nyayo Stadium or via the provided email.

This is because the Fifa player management system is presently out of the caretaker committee’s access following a ban imposed on the country earlier in the year by the world football governing body.

“The physical registration forms should either be delivered at Nyayo Stadium or send via mail to Michael Kirwa ([email protected]) on or before the mentioned deadline.”

TC said the new season will commence on September 10.

19-time Kenyan champions Gor Mahia will open their account against Ulinzi Stars at Nyayo Stadium on the first day of competition.

In the other matches set for September 10, Bidco United host Nzoia Sugar at Thika Stadium.

KCB have a date with Kariobangi Sharks at Moi Stadium, Kasarani Annex. Newbies, Fortune Sacco, will get a real taste of topflight football in their debut encounter against Talanta at Ruaraka Grounds.

On September 11, Nairobi City Stars take the battle to the doorstep of debutants APS Bomet at IAAF Stadium, Bomet.

Both APS Bomet and Fortune Sacco FC sealed promotion slots in the country's top tier after concluding first and second respectively in the preceding National Super League (NSL) season.

In other matches, last season's runners-up Kakamega Homeboys will host AFC Leopards at Bukhungu Stadium while Mombasa-based Bandari who finished third travel to travel to Nairobi for their fixture against Kenya Police.

Champions Tusker will flex muscles with Posta Rangers at Ruaraka Grounds.

Despite having said they had pulled out of the competition, Wazito have still been included in Week One fixtures where they will face Sofapaka Moi Stadium, Kasarani.

Wazito cemented a spot in the new season after fending off a tough challenge from NSL side Murang'a Seal in the two-legged promotion and relegation playoffs. TC said it will release subsequent fixtures in due course.
