Wadadia goalkeeper Monica Odato will be granted a three-week off to enable her to recover fully from an ankle injury she incurred last season.

The 25-year-old is the only recognised goalkeeper for the Mumias-based side and has played in all 11 first leg matches despite not being fully fit, according to assistant coach Geodfrey Mabonga.

Wadadia will finalise deals for two goalkeepers before the transfer window closes next month, as the team hopes to have a faultless second leg.

"Odato is a dependable and experienced player but she's not fully fit after her injury towards the tail end of last season. She needs a break to reboot and regain her previous standards."

Wadadia are ninth on the log with 10 points, a point off the relegation zone.

The team has blown hot and cold despite reaching the playoffs last season, where they were eliminated by Nakuru Queens.

"Injuries have been unkind for us. We have traveled to matches with only 14 players. We now need to embark on a good run but the mentality has to improve since there's a lot to play for."

Wadadia have suffered a blow in their bid to maintain their top-flight status with three players seeking transfers.

Midfielder Cindy Ngaira, who was called up to the Harambee Starlets squad for the controversial African Women's Cup of Nations qualifiers in January, has been snapped up by Ulinzi Starlets. The pair of Miriam Chelanga and Caroline Khaemba have equally joined Nakuru Queens.

"We need to improve on pressing and scoring. I will push the players to the last minute."

Wadadia play Bunyore Starlets next weekend.
