Kenyan boxer Sarah 'Angel of War' Achieng' is already thinking of bigger fights in the near future after retaining Commonwealth Super lightweight title against Zimbabwean challenger Chiedza Homakoma.

Achieng knocked out Chiedza aka "Queen Tiger" in the eighth round at the Charter Hall, Nairobi on Friday.

She said the win has inspired her  a great deal will now go for more bigger titles including the World Boxing Council (WBC) title, the  most prestigious in the trade.

"Next year, I'm planning to go for other belts like the WBC and the IBF," said the former Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) Inter Continental Female Lightweight champion.

"From here, I'm going to start thorough preparations for the the IBF title to be staged in Belgium in February."

The 'Angel of War' took absolute control of the fight from the first gong taking full advantage of her back-pedalling opponent, shaking her with strong body and face punches.

Unable to withstand Achieng's stinging blows, Homakoma resorted to holding the sharper Kenyan boxer. Homakoma hardly shook Achieng with any telling punch as she was on the receiving end most of the time.

Achieng' added that her defence will also open more opportunities as she prepares to take her career to the next level.

"We are glad that our strategy for the fight worked out from the onset. I'm sure there will be many more opportunities going forward," said Achieng, who trained at the Kariobangi Social Hall ahead of the encounter.

Homakoma had pitched in South Africa for a month of intensive training.

Achieng' defeated Anisha“The Massacre" Basheel of Malawi on October 20, 2021 to lift the then vacant Commonwealth belt in Nairobi.

It was one of the most anticipated bouts of the year, a battle between two of the best super lightweights but true to her word, Achieng' lived up to her expectations.

Tanzanian referee Emmanuel Mlundwa, a former international who started professional boxing in Tanzania in 1982, stopped the fight in the eighth round much to the delight of Sarah's teammates at Boxgirls and coach Alfred Analo aka 'Irie Priest'.

This was Achieng's 15th victory and eighth inside-the-distance win. She has lost only twice. Homakoma dropped to 6-5-2 (4 KOs).

Meanwhile, Kenya's Consolata Musanga edged Salimat Tibesigwa of Uganda on points to win the eight round Pugilist Syndicate of Tanzania (PST) belt in the women's Super Bantamweight category.

This is the first title the seasoned Musanga is clinching after trying for a decade
