A provisional team of 51 boys and girls was yesterday named in readiness for the FIBA Afro-Basket Zone Five tournament in Kampala, Uganda,
Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Secretary General, Angela Luchivya, said the team will enter into a residential camp in Nairobi on June 1 ahead of the event slated for June 9-14.
She said the players, who will be under the tutelage of Martin Okwako and Rose Mshila, are currently involved in the Term Two secondary school games basketball 3x3.
Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Somalia and Kenya ( boys) and Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya (girls have confirmed participation in the event.
The winners of the preliminaries will take part in the FIBA Afro-basket U-18 Championship to be held in August in South Africa. The African winner will proceed to the FIBA U-19 World Cup in 2025.
