Kenya Basketball Federation will next week hold 3x3 national trials at the Strathmore University Sports Complex.

In a statement, Ambrose Kisoi, the KBF secretary, said the exercise will be used to select the best players for upcoming competitions.

This, he revealed, is part of the federation’s efforts in selecting the best talents for international meetings including the 2024 Olympic Games qualifications.

The teams to be picked, in both the male and female categories, will feature Under-17 and Under-23 as well as seniors.

“Teams and players wishing to participate are advised to do register by Sunday,” said Kisoi.

They must be in possession of a passport, issued not later than January 1, 2022 and must open and register a 3x3 Fiba account.

He said the trials are mandatory for locally-based players who want to represent the country at future competitions.

Kisoi said they will then turn their focus on in the diaspora based on their performances, which will be evaluated by a technical panel.

Those picked in the U-17 category will be eligible for the continental championships and not the Olympic Games.

All selected players, Kisoi said, will be required to commit their availability for all preparations leading to the Olympic Games.
