Sons of Anarchy and Hookis are looking beyond national Half Court 3x3 basketball titles following their dominance at the second leg of Rift Valley and Western Regional qualifiers over the weekend in Eldoret.

Kakamega-based Anarchy were 11-09 winners against Team Wednesday in a fierce men's final. Captain Fred Sande said the win signifies progress, especially after crashing out in the semifinals last year.

“Our aim is not just playing at the national level but to reach the higher levels of international tournaments. The win here has given us many reasons to work more for better results at the international level,” said Sande.

He added that the tournament was challenging but victory means they can do better and win in bigger matches.

“We have conquered here but we need more depth to succeed in the coming tournaments and leagues to ensure our dominance among other teams,” he said.

Anarchy had defeated Rogue 8-7 in the second semifinal to book a date with Team Wednesday, who edged out Kapsabet Hawks 13-03.

All four semifinalists will play at the national championships.

Hookis outshone Kickers 5-8 in the final with the finalists earning their slots at the national playoffs.

The winning captain, Michelle Otieno, said: “The team was in good shape to win the title. We came here knowing what we wanted to do and we have done it. Our next assignment is bigger."

The champions hit Swift 10-05 in the second semifinal while Kickers beat Anthenas 5-8 in a sudden death playoff following a 5-5 deadlock in regulation time.

Eldoret was the second leg after the Mombasa qualifier two weeks ago. The action moves to Kisumu on April 29 before heading for the third and final qualifier in Nairobi on May 20. The national championships is set for May 27.
