Kenya Ports Authority coach Sammy Kiki is elated with their victory over former champions Ulinzi Warriors on Sunday.

The coastal side eclipsed the soldiers 64-52 in a top-of-the-bill match played at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Langata.

KPA, who have lost only one of their 18 matches, moved to the third spot on the table with 35 points with four matches to play.

"It was a good win for us and I am happy with the boys, who played according to the instructions," offered Kiki. He went on, "We played good defence and managed to contain them."

KPA led in all quarters as Eugene Adera who scored the opening trey drained 19 points. Franklin Omondi and Thomas Odhiambo added 10 points each.

"Our offence was well executed and we had good teamwork as well. We would have won with a bigger margin if we had converted our missed layups," Kiki said.

Leading the soldiers' onslaught was international Eric Mutoro who notched a game-high 20 points and William Ochieng grabbed 10.

Kiki said they host Equity Bank Dumas next at their Makande Welfare hall, Mombasa this weekend in what he described as a tough match.

The tactician said the team is fine but they are not yet where they want to be as they still have some lapses both in defence and offence.

"We will prepare well. I always tell my players how important it is to have a clean record and that's what we are doing."

Their other fixture at home will see them play Umoja before returning to Nairobi to wind up the season with a match against Zetech University Titans.

KPA's other city game against Kenyatta University Pirates was rained off on Saturday with the scores tied 45-45 in the third quarter.

Dumas dimmed Kenyatta University Pirates 61-40 to move to the top with 38 points same as Ulinzi who have finished their fixtures.
