Thunder confront Umoja in the only men’s Kenya National Basketball League encounter on the card on Sunday.

Thunder coach Sadat Gaya said he is eyeing a top four finish and is gunning for revenge after losing the reverse fixture. 

“We are well rested. We will not underestimate them having beaten us in the first leg. We are ready for them,” Gaya said.

“In a big boost, two of my players who were injured have gotten better during the long break.”

Zetech University Sparks have two matches against Eagle Wings and University of Nairobi Dynamites.

“We have not played for about three weeks. The training has been slow but I believe will pick up and do well.”

Dynamites also has two tight fixtures as they line up against second-placed Equity Bank Hawks and Sparks.

Hawks thumped Eldonets 78-24 and University of Nairobi Dynamites 50-32 and are favourites.

UoN’s coach Juma Kent said he stepped up his training for the two tight games but will take each at a time.

“Hawks and Sparks are among the top three teams in the country so it will be a tall order for my young team,” said Kent.

Africa Nazarene University Panthers meet Kenyatta University “Oryx” in a tricky encounter.

Both teams lost their matches last week with ANU falling 70-69 to Lady Bucks in Kisumu and KU losing 93-20 to Kenya Ports Authority in Mombasa.

“We are preparing well and the ladies are in a better shape and ready to go. We are looking forward to a very entertaining game this weekend,” said ANU’s Mike Oluoch.

On Sunday, Lady Bucks host Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) “Lynx” in Kisumu.

Strathmore University Swords, who had a strong 49-15 last quarter charge against Eldonets in their 76-35 win, meet Storms.
