KCB pump Sh5 million into next month's Nairobi City Marathon

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) has committed Sh5 million towards the Nairobi City Marathon scheduled for July 2.

Speaking during the unveiling of the cheque, the bank's representative, George Odhiambo, said the company is determined to ensure sports sustainability.

"As a company, we want to see sports in the country sustainable. We are determined to help events similar to this marathon because it is through them that talents are nurtured," he said.

Odhiambo also urged other companies to come to the aid of sports in the country to ensure talents do not go unnoticed.

"We should come together in such events and promote them. Our sponsorship is necessary for these events to be better. Sponsorship is one of the ways we can give back to the community who have utilised our services," he said.

Odhiambo also reiterated the company's support of sporting events in the country. 

"We hope to see our sponsorship grow this event to one of the greatest in the continent thus opening a platform to talents. We want to be the events partner for a  longer time," Odhiambo added. 

This sponsorship comes days after KCB sponsored the upcoming WRC Safari Rally to the tune of Sh150 million and will be the official financial partner of the event.
