Champions Kenya Ports Authority men's head coach Cliff Owuor said they will tighten their defence in their Kenya National League tie at home to Platinum Eldonets.

The Porters defence, he noted, conceded too many points in their 82-57 loss to Thunder — a matter of great concern.

"We conceded too many points against Thunder because we took hasty shots that ended on transition points, either by a lay up or three points," said Owuor, the national team coach.

"We need to work on sharing the ball a lot and also do a better job on the boards."

In Nairobi, surging Strathmore University Blades host Africa Nazarene University (ANU) Wolfpacks in a varsity derby.

Swords coach Tony Ochieng' said they are working on how to stop the opposing ball handlers and force them to make decisions that will favour his boys.

"We are now grinding well and the team chemistry is cropping up well.We have improved our field goal execution percentage. Being a derby we want to win to cement our playoff spot," said Ochieng.

Bottom sides Kenyatta University Pirates and Oryx coach, Caleb Osewe, hopes his team's slump ends with not-so-tough matches.

The men meet strugglers Absa while the women's side tackle Nakuru's TH3 Swish.

"It is tough for us now that exams are ongoing and the university is also closing in a few days," said Osewe.

"The training is not as intense due to exams. We have made up our minds to focus on the remaining matches."

It's one game at a time for Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) as they meet struggling Storms and Swords.

Equity Bank teams Hawks and Dumas expect to move up the standings when they face Storms and ANU Wolfpacks.

UoN Terrorists face a baptism of fire against free-shooting leaders and unbeaten Thunder.
