Amira Sailors attacker Gilly Okumu has revealed that work commitment denied her the opportunity to return to Germany for a fifth spell.

The all-action forward was expected to return to Eintracht Frankfurt in April for a two-month period but the move failed to materialise.

Breaking her silence for the first time, she said: "I had loads of work to do but obviously I will honour the next call".

After nine years of service, Okumu ditched defending women's league champions Strathmore Scorpions for Sailors in April.

Okumu joined Scorpions in 2013 from hockey powerhouse Sinyolo Girls and has been a go-to player at the national team level as well.

She was part of the Strathmore team that finished last in the Africa Cup for Club Championships in Nairobi, in February.

Okumu termed their weekend clash with the Lakers a tricky affair. Third-placed Sailors are yet to lose a match this season after registering two wins and three draws.

"It is always hard to break down Lakers when they play in their home ground. We have started the season well and we hope to continue on the same upward trajectory."

Sailors will miss the services of Leah Omwandho and Sheilah Chebet.
