KCB's 3-0 win against Ethiopia's National Alcohol on Sunday in the ongoing Africa Women's Volleyball Club championships is a morale booster to their title defence according to captain Edith Wisa.

The bankers beat their Ethiopian adversaries in sets of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-9 to earn their second straight victory in the annual championship in Tunisia.

The result saw the defending champions top their group with maximum points after two matches with one match remaining.

The soft-spoken skipper added that they intend to top the group in order to get an inferior opponent in the next round. An elated Wisa said:

"So far we thank God for our second win. It's a morale booster to us. We look forward to topping our pool so that when we progress, we will get the number two team from the other pool and it will be an easy one for us."

Wisa said the team had to analyse their opponents after the first set that saw Alcohol stretch them to their limit.

"We managed to put up with the pressure they were giving us in the first set. The Ethiopians were serving very well, and it gave us a challenge in ball reception in the first set. But after the team settled all was well."

Wisa added that the team cannot afford to rest on their laurels, challenging the players to focus on successfully defending their title.

The bankers take on a team from Senegal in their last pool match.
