Former international Kiongera roots for grassroot coaches

Former Kenyan international Paul Kiongera says there is need for grassroots coaches to get proper knowledge and skills to be able to nurture and develop talent.

Kiongera emphasised the role of qualified coaches at the grassroots.

“Knowledge is power, and we need grassroots coaches and former players to have the power to improve players and take them to the next level. That begins with taking up these coaching courses, ” said Kiongera.

He spoke in Kajiado County at the closing ceremony of a CAF 'D' coaching course organised by the Football Kenya Federation Kajiado Branch.

He is among 40 coaches who benefitted from the course.

FKF vice president Doris Petra urged former players to take up the courses and be active in football.

“I urge former football legends to partake in these courses and help nurture young talents who lack the proper technical guidance to exploit their full potential,” said Petra.

Fifa/FKF instructor Leonard Odipo conducted the 10-day course.

A similar course in ongoing in Buruburu and which concludes on Friday.
