Despite playing with one on next month's East and Central Africa Club Championships champions National Cereals and Produce Board whipped University of Eldoret 40-21 in a Kenya Handball Federation match at Nyayo Stadium.

"I gave time to all my players on the roster since we don't want to burn ourselves out with the regional championships just days away."

The Indian Ocean Island show will throw off on December 4-11 with Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and the hosts expected to field teams.

Nicholas Okore and Cyrus Muhanji scored six goals each as Robert Maraga five.

The visiting students had eight goals from Daniel Ombasa and six from Nehemiah Kosgei.

"It was a bit tough on us but we are learning by playing some of these top teams. We had to fight to keep the scores down. We are happy with the progress so far," said UoE's Kosgei.

It was the Juja side who took a 20-17 lead at halftime before faltering in the last half.

Robert Osano hit 10 goals and Victor Moracha added nine for the losers while Lewis Maraga and Dolan Nimrod each picked nine goals for Boomerang.

In the ladies' matches, Bungoma-based Rangers hammered Daystar University 54-13 after a 26-6 halftime advantage.

Naomi Muyaka scored 14 goals and Rahab Nanjala shot nine while Meldone Ajith grabbed six for Daystar.

In their second match of the day, Rangers had 12 goals from Deborah Matido and 11 from Muyaka as they thumped Rising Star 39-24.

They took a strong 29-8 halftime lead and went all the way. Zerida Atieno had eight for the losers.
