Former national 15's rugby coach Michael 'Tank' Otieno will spearhead a six-man secretariat for the FINA Stabilization Kenya Committee in the country.

The rest of the members include former swimmer Kanyali Illako, Betty Kubai, Sharon Lukaka, William Malalao and Tabuka Bifwoli.

The six members of the secretariat will not be eligible to vie for any elective office for the forthcoming national elections slated for December.

They will be assigned roles by the world governing body such as upcoming competitions like the 7th CANA Zone Three Championships slated for Dar-es-Salaam slated for November 17-20 and the FINA World Championships in Melbourne, Australia in December

A statement signed by the FINA Stabilizatio Kenya Committee chairman Jace Naidoo noted: “Counties and clubs should also forward to the Stabilization Committee the names and addresses of their executive committees, athletes and coaches’ particulars not later than November 18. They should take steps to ensure compliance with the Kenyan Sports Act before the end of November 2022.”

The statement also invited All KSF counties and clubs to pay up all their annual dues for 2021 and 2022 no later than November 18.

Due to the FINA suspension, Kenyan swimmers will be swimming under a neutral flag until the elections are done and the suspension is lifted by the world governing body, FINA

Naidoo was optimistic the newly appointed secretariat will deliver on their mandate to ensure swimming activities and team selection.

"They do have a tough job on their hands but I am confident they will deliver as we look ahead to having the elections done and returning Kenya back to the FINA family by the start of the new year," Naidoo said.
