KPA cruise past Trail Blazers

Kenya Ports Authority silenced Trail Blazers 3-2 in the third leg of 2021/2022 Kenya Volleyball Federation men’s national league at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

KPA bagged the first set 25-17 to mark a dream start to the second day of the competition. Blazers fought back to restore parity by winning the two subsequent sets  23-25 and 21-25 to secure the much-needed advantage ahead of the fourth set.

However, the coastal side roared back to win the fourth and fifth sets 25-17 and 15-12 respectively.

KPA assistant coach James Ontere lauded his charges for the spirited fight but challenged the referees to make the right calls.

"Some of their (referees) calls were not right. They have to make satisfactory decisions without bias," Ontere said. 

"It was a brilliant team performance but we have to be clinical in attack if we want to win our last match." 

Elsewhere, Prisons Nairobi beat Administration Police Kenya by the a five-set scoreline. Prisons won the first set 25-20, third set 25-23 and decider 15-13 while AP cruised in the second and fourth sets in identical 25-20 scoreline. 

Prisons Kenya picked up from where they left on Friday, beating their Mombasa counterparts 3-1 in sets of 25-19, 25-15, 19-25 and 25-15.

Prisons Nyanza lost 3-0 to Kenya Forest Service in straight sets of 28-26, 25-23 and 25-21.

Equity Bank edged Kenya Defense Forces 3-2 in another five-set thriller. KDF took the opening set 25-18 before the bankers leveled in the second 25-19. 

The soldiers regained the lead 25-19 to make it 2-1 before the bankers won the last two sets 26-24 and 15-13 respectively to prevail over their opponents.
