Gospel singer Size 8 says refusing to backslide has been the biggest challenge since she got saved.

The mother of two will be ordained as a preacher on Sunday, eight years after she quit the secular world.

She will be serving as a minister at JCC Thika town.

Speaking to Word Is, the mother of two said it is a great achievement for her and the gospel industry at large.

"I'm so grateful to God for this great honour. By His grace, He has done it."

Size 8 says refusing to compromise has been the biggest challenge.

"Sometimes, I have felt like giving up, but when I look back, I realise it is a must. I have to deny myself something to remain true to God," she said.

"The world keeps calling me, and saying no has been the main challenge. By His grace, I did not backslide," she said.

"I am excited and very emotional about this event since my life hasn't been smooth. The devil has been fighting me but I have made it through. It's a big thing for me and any servant of God."

(Ordination in Christian churches is a rite for the dedication and commissioning of ministers.

The essential ceremony consists of the laying of hands of the ordaining minister upon the head of the one being ordained, with prayer for the gifts of the Holy Spirit and of grace required for the carrying out of the ministry.

Thanking her husband, DJ Mo, Size 8 said he has been supportive in her ministry and allowed her to be herself.

She said serving in church requires a lot of sacrifices.

She hopes to have a movement soon. "I am serving under someone and I have given myself out to God. Nobody pays me or anything," she said.

"I earn from influencing and my music. It is something I decided to give back. God has saved my life so many times. I want to make sure I have a movement that can serve all over the world."
