The Dusit2 Hotel in Nairobi played the host to the second edition of the DusitD2Art Gallery exhibition series on Saturday.

The first exhibition of the year curated by Google Kenya country manager Charles Murito, saw 10 artists from across the country display their work. They included Erick Gitonga, Michael Soi, Waweru Gichuhi, Sammy Njuguna, Elias Mungore, Dickson Kaloki, Ken Otieno, Erick Muriithi, Boniface Maina and Willie Wamuti.

They showcased contemporary African art, acrylic on canvas, mix media, sculpture, photographs and hand bags were among the pieces that were exhibited. The aim of the event is to encourage creative freedom and eliminate the bureaucracy system that has seen brokers, middlemen and hosts of art exhibitions gain more than the artists themselves.

Children were also introduced to the world of art and painting through tutorials and the opportunity to sell their artwork.

In attendance were at Barclays Bank head of affluent client relations Susan Kay-Sanna and DusitD2 general manager Michael Metaxas.
