Yogourt parfaits can be great fuel for your body and brain as they're usually loaded with nutrients such as protein, fibre, natural sugars, and healthy fats that help you move throughout the day

A parfait is a rich cold dessert that draws its origin from France.

It usually has a rich pâté and a very smooth consistency. 

Parfaits are made by boiling cream, egg, sugar and syrup to create a custard-like puree.

However, the recipe can be customized and other things added to enhance the richness of the dessert and appease ones taste buds. 

This sweet dessert is mouth-watering delicious no wonder its French name appropriately translates to "perfect."

Ingredients

  • 400g  vanilla yogourt
  • 1/2 cup thickened cream, whipped 
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • Candied almonds
  • 250g strawberries, quartered 
  • Ground praline

Method

Pour the whipping cream into the mixing bowl and refrigerate.

Place sugar with 2 tbsp of water in a small cooking pot and bring to boil over medium heat.

Whisk the eggs until smooth, slowly pour the sugar syrup into the bowl of eggs while continuously stirring.

Continue beating until the mixture completely cools and has attained a thick, ribbon-like consistency.

Remove the bowl with whipping cream from the fridge and beat it till soft peaks form. Add the vanilla sugar and continue beating until it has a firm consistency.

Add the whipped cream slowly into the egg mixture, add the praline and fold the mixture until everything is well mixed.

Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes

Serve in a small glass or bowl, garnish with toppings of choice and enjoy
