On arrival, guests got to taste the beer that was used in almost all the meals that the contestants prepared throughout the show as they headed to the seating area.

There was upbeat modern music playing as people mingled and took photographs.

Later on we were served a starter of marinated barbecue chicken wings that were infused with Hop house 13.

The wings had hints of tangy sweetness and were perfectly done. Crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, sticky and dripping with flavour.

After the wings sampling, Chris Njoki, one the of series judges took the opportunity to thank the guests for honouring the invite and welcoming them.

She introduced the contestants and informed us that screening of the show was about to commence.

For the main course, guests had the opportunity to choose between burgers that were served with French fries or steak that was served with mashed potatoes.

I chose the burger and didn’t regret the decision. It was well stuffed with semi light sesame seeds buns that were well toasted and layered with mayonnaise.

Even though the patty was medium rare, it was surprisingly tender. However, a little under salted.

It had fresh lettuce, tomato and onion rings topped with mayonnaise.

The fries were soft, mildly salted, spiced and topped with a dipping sauce.

As one who is overly used to (and loves) crunchy fries, this was a pleasant change to my palates.

There were also complimentary drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic, for the guests.

The screening of the two part show gave us insight to the challenges the contestants went through while preparing the meals, the tension of watching the judges try out and judge their meals but importantly the joy they went through while preparing the meals.

It was a lively event that was graced by many media personalities and foodies all together.

The flavour by fire show is really interesting with hilarious bits here and there.

I cannot wait for you all to watch the show and maybe you can also borrow one or two recipes from the meals the contestants prepared.
