Going on a diet seems a little hard to some people as they envision everything they have to give up

What if I told you you can have your cake and eat it too.

A keto diet means consuming proteins, vegetables and very low carbs meals.

This can be a little tricky especially if one loves fast foods.

This easy meal takes 20 minutes to prepare and you still get to enjoy burger goodness, just without the carbs filled bun.

And you get to choose the ingredients/spices that you add and how you want your patty done.

Keto-friendly burgers

Ingredients

 

  • ¼ cup diced white onion

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ½ lb ground beef

  • Worcestershire sauce

  • 4 teaspoons yellow mustard

  • Salt to taste
  • ⅛ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon sugar-free ketchup

  • 4 dill/sweet pickles sliced

  • ½ teaspoon distilled white vinegar

  • 8 slices lettuce

  • 1 red onion sliced into rings

  • 2 tomatoes sliced into rings

  • 4 cheese slices

Method

  • First, in a bowl, combine the ground/ minced meat, salt, black pepper and Worcestershire sauce portioning out 4 ground beef patties.
  • Then flatten them out until they are about the width of your fist and set the patties aside.
  • Heat the butter in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat.
  • Once melted, lower the heat then add in the diced onions and allow to cook until dark golden brown.
  • Stir occasionally while using this time to assemble the remaining ingredients.

  • Once the onions are done, remove them and set them aside.

  • Increase the heat to medium and place the patties in the skillet. Cook 2-3 minutes per side.

  • Once you flip, brush the tops of each burger with a teaspoon of yellow mustard.

  • Flip then place a slice of cheese on top of two of the patties. Cover the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes while the cheese is melting.

  • Assemble the Burgers - Cut the base of each lettuce leaf on the head and carefully peel it away so that it stays as intact as possible.

  • Then simply stack from the bottom up tomato slices, onion rings and chopped pickles, avocado slices, a patty with cheese on top, the other patty, fry sauce, then drizzle with desired sauce and wrap in lettuce tightly.
