Deputy President William Ruto will on Wednesday start a five-day campaign to popularise his bottom-up economic model in Raila Odinga's Nyanza and Western turfs.

The DP's latest campaign tours come after his successful boardroom negotiations to stem fallouts after acrimonious primaries in his strongholds.

During the visits, the DP will hold structured meetings with opinion leaders for his regional Economic Blocs to sell the bottom-up model which he has branded as revolutionary.

The UDA boss will also, hold public rallies to drum up support for his presidential bid, less than 100 days before the general election.

A programme from the William Ruto residential campaign team showed the DP will camp in Kisii on Wednesday before crossing to the neighbouring Nyamira on Thursday.

Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi and UDA senate aspirant told the Star the DP's team will spend time with opinion leaders to market the bottom-up economic model.

The essence of the forum, Maangi said, would be for Ruto's team to capture the region's economic expectations as part of his elaborate agenda to draw region-based blueprints.

“The Kenyan Kwanza team in Kisii is ready to receive our leader for the engagements lined up,” Maangi said.

“The DP is keen not leave behind any region when he forms the government and that is why he is taking time to understand the issues of concern for specific regions.”

Ruto will then lead his Kenya Kwanza team for campaigns in Busia on Friday where former Foreign Affairs CAS Ababu Namwamba will host him.

He is scheduled to hold at least two rallies in Kakamega where he recently hammered a deal between UDA and Amani National Congress.

The DP managed to convince former Senator Boni Khalwale to run for the Senate's seat while ANC's Cleopas Malala will fly the Kenya Kwanza flag for Kakamega governor.

On Saturday, Ruto's team will tour Bungoma and hold an Economic Forum at the Nzoia Guest House before holding rallies in Busia and Vihiga.

Bungoma is Ford Kenya boss Moses Wetangula's backyard and one of the DP's key support regions in Western Kenya.

On Sunday the DP's campaign entourage will be in Trans Nzoia for an economic forum and thereafter a series of public rallies at Moi's Bridge.

In Trans Nzoia, the team is expected to drum support for Ford Kenya's Chris Wamalwa against Azimio la Umoja affiliated George Natembeya.

The two are fighting for the governor's seat.

The DP will be resuming his campaigns after a week-long break for the State Burial of the late President Mwai Kibaki.

However, Ruto's latest campaign itinerary has not included any of the counties from Raila's Luo Nyanza, a region he has been snubbing in his presidential tours.

Ruto has only toured the cosmopolitan Migori but avoided Homa Bay, Siaya and Kisumu.

The DP has been holding county-based Economic Forums to craft region-centric blueprints that will form part of his manifesto likely to be launched next month.
