It is being protected by armed security officials. This comes at a time when security has been heightened in the country over terror fears.

There are fears and threats of terror attacks in the country following reports al Shabaab terror group had dispatched unknown number of suicide bombers with a mission to attack. The targets are however not known.

An internal police memo told officers to increase their surveillance and provide maximum security in political campaigns.

The memo cited tthat dispatched suicide bombers are on a mission probably in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.

A senior police officer aware of the developments said the threats are real and urged for cooperation from all organisers of political rallies.

“We spend much resources in efforts to tame their plans but all we ask is cooperation from the other stakeholders especially the organisers of the rallies,” the official said.

The memo said the targeted areas include churches and huge gatherings.

“You are directed to cover all the  places of worship, supermarkets and any place with huge gatherings. You should also provide maximum security to all presidential candidates," the memo read.
