Two police officers who were charged with the murder of rights lawyer Willie Kimani will be charged on May 24 for the murder of a second victim.

Fredrick Leliman and Leonard Mwangi were Wednesday arraigned before Machakos High Court judge George Odunga, alongside former Mlolongo OCS Stephen Lelei and their colleague Wilson Kamau.

It is alleged that on June 2, 2016, at an unknown place in Machakos, they murdered Peter Mutua Musyoka.

Judge Odunga ordered the four suspects undergo a mental evaluation before plea taking.

Leliman and Mwangi are among four cops and a police informer accused of killing Willie on June 23, 2016, alongside his client Josephat Mwenda and driver Joseph Muiruri.

In that case, they are charged alongside AP officer Stephen Cheburet, Silvia Wanjiku and police informer Peter Ngugi who confessed to the murders of the three men, during his defence hearing last year.

They are currently waiting for judgement before Justice Jessie Lessit who is expected to deliver her judgement anytime.

Kimani, Mwenda and Muiruri were abducted and killed and their bodies were found in Ol Donyo Sabuk River a week later, stashed in gunny bags.

In another case, Leliman and Lelei have been charged with another case for the killing of two other people a month before Willie was killed.

In that case, now pending before Machakos court, they are accused of killing Jacob Mbai and Elizabeth Nduku in Mlolongo town on May 27, 2016.

The case will be mentioned on May 24 for plea taking.
