State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed on Sunday narrated how veteran journalist Rita Tinina once helped him while he was a scribe in the media fraternity.

Giving a glowing tribute following her sudden demise on Sunday, Hussein said that Tinina once bailed him out during his time at Citizen TV.

The State House Spokesperson said Tinina helped her file a story when his equipment failed at an EAC Heads of State Summit in Arusha during the reign of former President Mwai Kibaki.

"It was my first interaction with her, as she was already a household name in the media, while I was a rookie at the time. Nonetheless, she displayed grace then, as she always has," Hussein added.

Hussein passed his condolences to  Tinina's friends and family.

Tinina’s body was found at her Kileleshwa apartment

She was supposed to be on duty at NTV where she worked but failed to report.

This prompted the managers at her place of work to go to the house where the body was found.

The cause of the death is yet to be known, police said.

Her family was present as police arrived to pick up the body to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Her body was taken to the Umash Funeral home as her colleagues in the media waited outside her apartment.
