Radio Africa Group on Friday held its first Women Summit as the world marked International Women’s Day.

The event dubbed 'Banking on the Future of Women' aimed at providing women with tools, resources and opportunities to enhance their economic empowerment.

Radio Africa Group Events Manager Somoina Kimojino said bringing women together for empowerment had been her passion for years.

“This is really an event that has been a passion point of mine for many years and anyone who knows me has always heard me speak about having a platform that brings women together to empower, elevate them and share the stories,” she said.

Somoina pointed out that the 2024 Women Summit was a true testament to Radio Africa Group’s commitment to women empowerment.

She noted that it was such a privilege that Radio Africa was able to bring on board a diverse and inspiring group of women on the panel.

“We recognised extraordinary achievements and contribution by women who stood before us had broken barriers, driven positive change in our nation and within our communities,” Somoina added.

The Events manager said the panel were chosen in order for women who attended the summit to learn how to network and grow each other through shared achievements.

In attendance was Dr Lucy Mathenge, the programme specialist governance at the UN Women- Kenya, Sera Kitusya, CEO, Belva Group, Anita Chege, General Manager for innovation HF and Zuhura Ogeda Odhiambo, MSK chair-CEO and funder at MRSA.

Also present were Imelda Ngunzu, director Global Partnerships and Segments Innovation at Mastercard, Law Society of Kenya President-elect Faith Odhiambo, MasterCard's Communications Director Kanyi Mwangi and Aliya Khanbhai, Wealth and Insurance in Financial Services team leader at Safaricom.

Kiprono Kittony, chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange and Radio Africa Group CEO Patrick Quarcoo also graced the event.

Media Owners Association chairperson and The Star Newspaper Chief Operating Officer Agnes Kalekye was also present.
