Despite the many promises that have been put forward in support of women, it is time to walk the talk, Chairman of the Nairobi Stock Exchange Kiprono Kittony has said.
He said it was time to solve the constant biases that the female gender has always undergone.
Speaking during the Women's Summit organised by Radio Africa Event at Capital Club on Friday held in commemoration of International Women's Day, he said women have to be well represented.
"We need to make sure all boards have a representation of women. They have always faced discrimination in promotions and even hiring," Kittony said.
The NSE chairman said it was a high call for the women to be considered in the governance positions because they are better at governance and are less corrupt.
"The best way of dealing with corruption in Kenya is by empowering women. They have better intuition as compared to men," he said.
"These disparities need to be addressed. There are situations where the men have always been paid more than as compared to women."
"We need to remind men more of some of these unconscious biases."
Kittony further said it was time for women who have done well to stand up and not be left behind.
Bringing up the women and empowering them into leadership positions, he said is also a way of tackling corruption in the country.
The event brought together women who came together to get more knowledge on economic empowerment.
This year’s theme, “Banking on the Future of Women,” emphasized the importance of women investing in each other in a time-sensitive world
It was also aimed at equipping women with tools, resources, and opportunities for economic empowerment and financial independence.
