The man had tried to switch off the power connection from the main switch to enable him to accomplish his mission when he was electrocuted on March 6, police said.

Police were called to Ebusikhale village and informed there was a dead body lying next to a meter box.

In the process, as he was trying to disconnect the electricity at the meter box, he was electrocuted and died on the spot.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Such cases of electrocution are common in villages due to among others poor wiring.

Elsewhere in Mbale, Busia County, police are investigating the murder of a 48-year-old man Lucas Opiyo Kubebea.

In another incident at Railway Estate, in Nakuru County, police are investigating the killing of a suspect by a mob.

Police discourage mob lynching and term it criminal.

The police want arrested suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing.
