Law Society of Kenya president Faith Odhiambo has said investing in women accelerates progress.

She said it was time to make the positive change noting that there is potential, drive and opportunity however few.

Odhiambo was speaking during the Women's Summit on Friday held in commemoration of International Women's Day.

"I urge that we work together to shape the kind of society that we want to see. We must bring real impact to our women because such an investment cannot go to waste," she said.

The LSK president-elect called for the formation of alliances, sharing ideas and most importantly putting words into action.

With this, she noted that welfare is the core of commitment to their members.

"We may take care of our women and girls matters to do with general safety, sexual and human rights violation, violence against women, discrimination and mental health issues," Odhiambo said.

"We will synergize on the mandate as the Law Society of Kenya programs run by civil societies, NGOs, and private sectors."

She therefore urged that there be unity in bringing the kind of community we want to see.

"Everyone can touch, and change the life of one lady, woman or girl. Let's work together to make the change," she said.

The women’s summit by Radio Africa Group brought women from different occupations.

They came together to get more knowledge on economic empowerment this year’s theme, “Banking on the Future of Women.”

The event emphasized the importance of women investing in each other in a time-sensitive world

The summit was also aimed at equipping women with tools, resources and opportunities for economic empowerment and financial independence.

It also sought to give valuable insights for personal and professional growth from these accomplished individuals.

International Women's Day is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women's rights movement.

IWD focuses on issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
