Rarieda residents to benefit from CS Owalo's medical camp

Christmas will come early for residents of Rarieda in Siaya County in the form of a free medical camp sponsored by the Eliud Owalo Foundation.

The inaugural camp will be held on Saturday at the Lwak School and Lwak Mission Centre.

The medical camp will offer a range of services, including medical screening, physician consultations, and treatment for conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, kidney and heart diseases.

Obstetrics and gynaecology services, including cervical cancer screening will also be available.

The patron of the foundation, Eliud Owalo, who is also the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and the Digital Economy stressed the importance of providing preventive medical care.

"Neglecting basic preventive medical care can have dire consequences for our communities. In some instances, it leads to severe ailments and, tragically, loss of lives,” he stated.

He said the foundation aims at taking quality healthcare services directly to the doorsteps of those in need.

He said they also want to champion healthcare awareness and cultivate modern healthcare-seeking behaviours among underprivileged and vulnerable communities.

Respected and renowned doctors among them Joseph Aluoch, Khama Rogo, Ouma Oluga, Patrick Amoth, Kelly Oluoch, Hezron Omollo and Julius Okel are expected to lend services.

The event will see participation from other prominent healthcare institutions such as St Jairus, Equity Afia, Kisumu Heart Centre, Kisumu Medical Education Trust, Kenya Medical, Practitioners and Dentist Union and Sagam Hospital.

Sponsors include NHIF, Equity Foundation, and the National Aids Control Council for their invaluable support.

The foundation its appreciation to Charlene Ruto for providing kits to enhance the well-being of the community.
